Omar Abdullah Holds Cabinet Meeting in Pahalgam, Declares: “We Will Not Be Intimidated by Terror”
Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir – June 5, 2025
In a powerful show of defiance and unity, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led a special Cabinet meeting in the picturesque yet tense region of Pahalgam, days after a brutal terror attack claimed the life of Shubham Dwivedi, a young tourist from Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking after the high-level meeting, Abdullah addressed both the media and the people of Kashmir with a firm and emotional message:
“These cowardly acts of terror will never break our spirit. We are not afraid.”
The Cabinet meeting was not just symbolic—it was strategic. Ministers discussed the growing concerns around security in the region, especially in popular tourist areas like Pahalgam that have seen a recent uptick in both tourism and threats. Officials confirmed that security infrastructure will be upgraded, and more surveillance systems will be installed.
Abdullah, visibly emotional during his address, met with the family of the deceased victim earlier in the day. “What happened here was not just an attack on one young man, it was an attempt to destroy the image of our Kashmir. But we will stand taller than ever,” he stated.

Local Reactions
Many local residents welcomed the Cabinet’s presence, calling it a rare but much-needed gesture of solidarity. “It shows that our leaders are not hiding in Srinagar or Delhi when tragedy strikes,” said a shopkeeper in the Pahalgam market.
Tourists too, though shaken, said they feel reassured by the increased presence of government and security personnel. “This valley is too beautiful to be forgotten or feared,” said a visitor from Mumbai.
