Unlicensed Clinics Busted in Hyderabad as Locals Treated for Years by Fake Doctors
A quiet storm is brewing over Hyderabad fake doctors operating in the shadows of the city’s healthcare system. The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) has uncovered a shocking case of medical malpractice, where individuals with no valid medical degrees were treating patients, prescribing medicines, and even performing minor procedures — all without proper authorization.

These so-called clinics have been operating for years in low-income neighborhoods, often without anyone questioning their legitimacy.
Behind Hyderabad Fake Doctors: No License, No Degree
In areas like Falaknuma, Malakpet, and LB Nagar, locals have long relied on nearby clinics run by familiar faces. However, recent checks by the TGMC revealed a disturbing truth — several of these “doctors” were never trained or licensed to practice medicine.
A senior TGMC officer, part of the inspection team, said,
“We were shocked to find people treating children and elderly patients with no medical registration or qualifications. This isn’t just illegal — it’s life-threatening.”
During raids conducted over the past week, at least six fake clinics were sealed, and complaints have been lodged against the individuals running them.
Locals Betrayed: “We Trusted Them with Our Lives”
For residents, this came as a betrayal. 65-year-old Sultana Begum from Yakutpura said,
“We took our children to that clinic for fever and cough. We thought he was a real doctor. Who knew he didn’t even study medicine?”
The affordability and easy access made these clinics popular. Most people never asked for certificates or registration numbers.
Why Did This Go Unchecked for So Long?
According to experts, the issue has been ignored for years due to a lack of regular inspections and public awareness.
Dr. Anupama Reddy, a practicing physician in Hyderabad, explained:
“Many poor families fall prey to such unlicensed setups because real medical services are either far away or unaffordable. Quacks thrive in this gap.”
Some of these fake practitioners even issued printed prescriptions, had staff wearing uniforms, and displayed fake registration numbers on clinic boards.
TGMC Targets Hyderabad Fake Doctors: Crackdown Underway
The Telangana Medical Council has now promised strict enforcement. A special task force is being formed to identify and act against such illegal practices in the coming weeks.
TGMC has also launched a public verification system where people can enter a doctor’s name and check if they are legally registered in Telangana.
A public notice will soon be circulated in local languages urging residents to avoid unverified clinics.
What You Should Do
- Ask for a doctor’s registration number and check it on the TGMC website
- Report any suspicious or unlicensed clinic to the TGMC helpline: 1800-120-2345
- Prefer government PHCs or certified hospitals, especially for children, pregnant women, and elderly care
Conclusion: What the Hyderabad Fake Doctors Case Teaches Us
This case raises serious questions about healthcare access and awareness in urban India. While TGMC’s actions are a welcome step, experts believe the real solution lies in stronger public health systems and education — so that no patient ever has to depend on a fraud wearing a white coat
